Morningside Lends a Hand to Ukraine Families

Cookies spelling bake sale

by Jadyn Steffen–As Ukraine is still under invasion from Putin’s Russian military, Morningside University students try to help out in any way they can.

The invasion began on February 24 and several hundred Ukraininans have been pronounced dead and over 600,000 have been forced to flee their country with just days or hours of notice, creating a serious humanitarian crisis.

As time goes on we can only expect an increase in these numbers and this is why our campus’ biology/chemistry student organizations held a bake sale to help out Ukrainian families in need and/or to help the people who are suffering from damages of this war.

Sophomore Camrie Miranda says, “The fundraiser for Ukraine was a great event. I applaud the students for working swiftly to allow the Morningside community to get the opportunity to make a difference for the Ukraine people. The treats were sweet and the students were definitely passionate about this cause.”
