Silent Auction for Psi Chi Happening Next Month

by Ashley Duncan-March 22nd-24th Psi Chi is holding an online silent auction starting 8 am on the 22nd and closing at 5 pm on the 24th. The money raised will be distributed between funding the chapter, conference trips, graduate research, honor cords, and Safe Place, a domestic violence shelter.

Psi Chi is the international honors society for psychology. To be part of this chapter President Ashlyn Heilig said, “You have to be a psychology major or minor. Once you are a part of Psi Chi, it is up to you for your involvement.” A student must also have nine credits of psychology taken to join Psi Chi.

To get involved with any of Psi Chi’s fundraising events a member has to volunteer their time, nothing is mandatory. Bryanna Pulling, Vice President, said this is her first year of being an active member, “I wish I had been a part of it more in the past. I really enjoy it.” Their goal this year and the next is to get more active members so they can get the word out about Psi Chi.

The chapter focuses on different things each year, whether it be mental health awareness or helping people get into graduate school. Each year they host a time when the GRE test, a test to get into graduate school, can be taken on campus. They also partner with Safe Place, the domestic violence shelter to help raise funds and spread the awareness of domestic violence.

Psi Chi, although a psychology based chapter, is still looking for donations for the auction from the whole campus community. Whether it be a few hours of coaching, training, or a lesson over photography. If anybody has some time or skills they would like to donate, contact Bryanna Pulling or Ashlyn Heilig.
