“Likely human skull found in Halloween section of Florida thrift store”

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/human-skull-found-in-halloween-section-thrift-store-north-fort-myers-florida/

An anthropologist was shopping at a gift shop in Florida when they realized that there was a real human skull up for sale in the Halloween section. The Sheriff’s office responding detectives, and medical officials all identified it to be a human skull.

This is bad because Under Florida law, “no person shall knowingly offer to purchase or sell any human organ or tissue for valuable consideration.” Eyes, corneas, kidneys, livers, hearts, lungs, pancreases, bones and skin are subject to the rule.

The owner of the establishment in question said they got it from a storage unit that was purchased years ago and didn’t know it was real. Officials have not said whether anyone will face charges.

There’s a difference between a thrift store and a gift shop.

“…no person shall knowingly offer to purchase …” There is a
legal term, Scienter, for having knowledge of a crime. Is the
store owner expected to know every item in his store?
