Gay Couples’ Lawsuit

A gay couple from New Jersey is pressing charges against an anti- gay group called Public Advocate of United States. Tom Privitere and Brian Edwards got married in 2010 and took engagement pictures in front of the Brooklyn Bridge. Those pictures were recently placed in an ad sent out in a campaign for the Republican statehouse seats in Colorado. Tom and Brian are pressing charges in Colorado saying the group violated the law, damages, costs, and attorney fees for an unauthorized use of the copyrighted photo. The couple was notified of the mailers in June and is unsure of how they received the picture.  They are wanting to stand up for themselves and for other gays that could be attacked in the same way in the future. This can be news for people everywhere. Gay people are in each state and in many states are fighting for their rights.  So for a couple to be attacked like this something that will interest people.  The couple lived in New Jersey and the mailer was sent out in Colorado. This shows that people’s pictures are not safe if placed on the Internet.  People need to know this. They need to protect themselves and their property from being stolen or used without proper consent. Not only will it teach a lesson to people that are using the web, but it will also be interesting for people to follow the case to see what happens to the gay people fighting to defend themselves and other gay people that could be attacked for their choice in sex in partnership.

You’re right, Natalie. This isn’t a story about an angry gay couple. It’s a story about privacy. It’s called appropriation. Someone’s property was stolen and used in a way they did not approve.
