News Comment #13: Newborn babies at a Pittsburgh hospital dressed up as Mister Rogers for Cardigan Day

A baby at the West Penn Hospital is dressed up in a red cardigan and tie to celebrate World Kindness Day and Cardigan Day in honor of Mister Rogers.a

New born babies are dressed up in cardigans and ties at Allegheny Health Network’s West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh.

In celebration of World Kindness Day, it is also to honor Pittsburgher Fred Rogers, “who modeled kindness and compassion to children,” said Stephanie Waite a spokesperson for the Allegheny Health Network.

The costumes were inspired by the iconic Mister Rogers, from “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood”.

The parents got to have photos of their kids in cardigans and keep the outfit.

This is an example of a feature story. The topic is about dressing babies up in outfits to match a famous character. It creates a happy mood and everyone loves babies. It is short and straight to the point. A reference to the Mister Rogers film is put in the end. A good way to promote the movie.

  1. Definitely a feel-good story. But also timely because of the promotion campaign for the upcoming film.

But really, how can a story about babies not be emotional/human interest?
