Sexism is discrimination based on sex, generally towards women in the business world.  It’s a growing concern if sexism is acceptable because everyone in America is equal.  When doing business with a different country we need to not only look at our laws and customs, but also we need to investigate theirs.  Most middle eastern countries are governed under Islamic law.  As we have learned, it is against the law for men and women to work together even in a below minimum wage job like factory work.   If it is against rules for women and men to work in a factory together, how appalled would someone with power be if a woman showed up to negotiate a deal?  In countries like these it is just out of the question for women to physically be there and be apart of the negotiating process.  If we are ignorant and choose to send women to do business with a country that doesn’t operate that was it will ruin that certain deal and could affect previous or future contracts.  Therefore I think it is in our best interest for the company and the company’s shareholders to respect the other country’s rules and customs.  Many countries are slowly allowing women to have more equality, but it takes time.  The future is full of unknowns maybe one day women will have equality in all parts of the world but until then I think we should respect other’s customs.
