Fruit Snacks

Eating the monster buddies fruit snacks, I noticed many things about it. They’re very squishy, but also very firm at the same time. They taste very fruity, but in an artificial way. It would best be described as biting into fake fruit thats on display at an event. They look good and look like any other fruit, but they are very underwhelming flavor wise. They do not resemble the flavors of any fruits as they all taste the same in my opinion. They look like colorful monsters if you compare them to the packaging. They do not look like the packaging because of the size, but they resemble it slightly. They smell very bland. There is no fruity smell to them whatsoever. The only thing heard was the package being opened by me and the chewing that I was doing as I ate the Monster Buddies. The packaging gives you the feeling that you are eating monsters, much as the Scooby Doo fruit snacks resemble eating the Scooby Doo team. Why would children eat their buddy? Overall pretty bland.

As the NBA season kicks around, there is a lot of talk about the COVID-19 guidelines. The NBA is not making a Covid-19 vaccine mandate for the players, but certain states are making it a mandate. Andrew Wiggins has been very public about his choice to not be vaccinated. Wiggins plays for the Golden State Warriors, a team based in California. Well, California does have a vaccine mandate in place for indoor events. What does this mean? This means that Wiggins would have to miss every home game for the Warriors, which is half of the teams games. So, he felt like his only choice was to get the vaccine.

The article is very well written. The title has a good hook in it. Anyone who has followed the story knows Wiggins was very against it. The opening sentence gets straight to the point about what happened. The article also uses many quotes and paraphrases. The article also gives information about things that have happened prior to fill in new readers. The article is for people who are very into the NBA, Andrew Wiggins, The Golden State Warriors, or about the Vaccine. This article is very insightful and has a good interview of Wiggins and his thoughts. The article does not choose sides, it is very mutual.

Criminal Justice Professor Stories

Professor Gonsler seemed like a very interesting person. A man who has very entertaining stories to tell because of experiences throughout his life. He is a Criminal Justice Professor at Morningside University. He used very colorful language and was relatable. Under his business casual attire, was a bed of tattoos that covered a large proportion of his body. He also had a very thick mustache, similar to those that a biker in a gang would have.

His opening line into talking about his past life prior to Morningside University was talking about how he was pen pals with the Unibomber. He said he sent about 4 back and forth letters with him before he “pissed him off”. He was pen pals with for his master thesis which he wrote at Indiana State University. “Go sycamores” he said. He was pissed him off because he was asking personal questions and the Unibomber wanted to talk about the revolution. He said the Unibomber had “the best handwriting he had ever seen”.

Being someone who was fascinated with serial killers, Gonsler talked about who his favorite serial killer was. Who better than the man who has multiple iconic horror movie killers based off him. This killer helped create Psycho, Silence of the Lambs, and Texas Chainsaw Massacre. He said his favorite serial killer was Ed Gein. Being someone who almost obsesses over serial killers, favorite has to mean his work was interesting right? Yes, he said he would “make belts out of nipples” and “dig up bodies and skin them”. He also said he would “wear the skin and dance into the sun”. Although he only killed two people and the technical definition of a serial killer is three or more in a certain period of time, his crimes were so brutal that they had to classify him as a serial killer.

Last Conversation Before Class

My last conversation before class was with my roommate Seth Sheppard. I was going to class as was he. We said good bye. Seth is an African American Individual. His face was red because he was coughing earlier. He was standing on the front porch putting his sweatshirt on. I walked to my car and did not think anything of it.

Joe Rogan has been a part of the UFC since almost the beginning. He joined when the UFC was hardly talked about. He was been around for the highs and the lows. But as of lately, Joe Rogan has been questioned on whether he will return to the UFC to commentate fights or do Octagon interviews. On September 28th, UFC 266: Volkanovski Vs. Ortega took place and Joe Rogan was not a part of the team broadcasting the event. Joe Rogan has been known for not traveling internationally to do fights, but this flight took place in Las Vegas. The event went fine and is in the running for the card of the year. There were many great fights and performances, and Rogan’s appearance was not all that missed.

Rogan has openly said that he is getting bored of the UFC, which is apparent as he only shows up to do the big PPV events which happen around 12-15 times a year. He does not work on the free fight night cards, even though Daniel Cormier and Jon Anik (his broadcasting partners) work some of those. Joe Rogan has been openly criticized for his over reaction to fights and jumping to conclusions way to quick in fights, not to mention, he is in the news for something non-UFC related quite a bit. The UFC team does have replacements for them and fans are starting to take a liking to the replacements. Those range from Paul Felder to Dominick Cruz, or Michael Bisping. All of them are former UFC fighters who might have more of a background in MMA than Rogan does. This article is for anyone who watches the UFC or follows Joe Rogan. This is an editorial as well.

Whether or not Joe Rogan decides to step away from the UFC is not yet determined, but people have been talking about his absence and has caught the attention of fans and the media.

One good conversation

When the COVID-19 pandemic started, it affected everyone a little differently. Some people were worried, some were disappointed, Alex was having fears. The fears were not about himself, but for his Grandma.

COVID-19 affects people who are older than people who are young. Alex’s Grandma was therefore at higher risk for symptoms and possibly death. This changed the way he lived his life. “I had to be careful of where I was going, what I was doing, and who I was around.” said Alex. “I did not want to risk getting the virus and bringing it upon her.”

Alex was on the football team and the policies they had in place also affected the way he lived his life. They had to get tested multiple times a week for football and they were not allowed to go out on weekends due to the risk it could impose on the season. This limited his choices and the amount of freedom he got. He felt very disappointed about the way that COVID-19 had changed his way of living.

A year and a half later, the country as a whole has started to shift back to “normal” but there are still restrictions because of the push to get everyone vaccinated. This puts a restriction on what people are able to do based on their vaccination status. Alex states “I am concerned about how they are trying to force everyone to get the vaccine”. The vaccine was developed much shorter than most vaccines are typically developed.

Article 1 Final

NY Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, often known as AOC, attracted the sl media because of the outfit that she wore at the 2021 Met Gala event.

The Met Gala is a charity event formally known as the Costume Institute Benefit. The charity event is for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute of New York City. Many big name celebrities show up to this event often with stunning or rather interesting outfits on.

AOC wore a white dress that said “Tax the Rich” in red on the back of the dress. Cortez is often criticized online, even by her own supporters. AOC is very opinionated and often gets into debates with many people who do not see eye to eye with her. Ryan Saaverda from the Daily Wire reports that tickets to the Met Gala are around the $30,000 range, while getting a table at the event is around $275,000.

Many people are finding it ironic that she is wearing an outfit that basically applies to everyone at the event. Considering that AOC is a politician in New York, it is fair to say that she makes a fair amount of money and would fall under the “rich” class of living. Dave Portnoy of Barstool Sports tweeted “‘Tax the Rich’ … But first I’m gonna go have the time of my life partying with them all at the most extravagant over the top party of the year that is essentially a celebration of richness,”.  Jerry Dunleavy wrote”AOC wanted to hang out with a bunch of rich celebs at a cool party without losing her socialist street cred so she tossed ‘Tax the Rich’ on the back of her dress & called it a day,”.

Megan Hills from CNN reported that many called her stunt bold and subversive, while many called the stunt hypocritical. AOC’s outfit was not the only outfit that caused controversy. Many outfits were talked about throughout the event. Some outfits were bold and some outfits were odd, but the outfits that steal the show are the outfits that send a message.  US Women’s Soccer player wore a red, white, and blue suit that said “IN GAY WE TRUST”.  Rapinoe is very open about her political ideas as well.

The criticism that AOC seems to take most is that she’s pushing a political agenda, but she’s also partying with celebrities who are all rich. Taxing the rich means raising taxes for people who make a certain amount of money. If you make a certain amount of money, you are taxed a higher percentage of your yearly income, than people in the upper and lower classes. According to Anni Karni of the New York Times, AOC has been putting off signing a bill that would increase the federal minimum wage to $15/hour. While AOC’s outfit at the Met Gala is informative and could be something that people should look into, it doesn’t fit in well with some of the other things she does in office.

Scavenger Hunt

The scavenger hunt experience was very tough. Going throughout campus to find and interview people was tough. Getting an interview from people was not the hard part, but finding people who have the item I was seeking was very difficult. I was looking for students in particular initially. Other students seemed easier to talk to rather than professors for faculty.

I interviewed Beau, and his favorite memory was winning the national championship in 2018 on the football roster. Beau said “The experience was unreal, I could not have dreamt a better time in my life than the day we won that game. The trip to Florida, the game, the afterparty, it was all amazing.” Beau’s reaction to the request of me asking for an oddly bent paper clip was very understandable. Many students these days use staplers over paperclips but sure enough he did have one in his bag. The search was hard, some people did not seem very approachable, and some people did not have what I was looking for.

The article I am writing about is the NBA’s decision to not mandate vaccines among players. The NFL stated that they were not going to require players to be vaccinated, but there would be no chance to make up games if any unvaccinated player causes the team to have to postpone a game. The NBA seemed like it would go in a different direction and require that all players and staff to be vaccinated for the upcoming basketball season. While the NBA and the NBAPA is still negotiating aspects of COVID-19 related protocols, it is certain for now that players will not be required to receive the vaccination. On the other hand, in late August, the NBA informed teams that personnel under team control who work within 15 feet of players are required to be fully vaccinated by October 1st.

Although roughly 85% of players are vaccinated, there are some players who have their concerns about receiving the vaccine. The article is directed to NBA fans or fans in general. It could raise caution to fans who want to attend the game because there is a chance, depending on where they are seated that they could contract the virus whether they are vaccinated or not. It is currently unknown if fans in attendance will be required to be vaccinated or not and how the NBA and NBAPA will approach that.
