There was a lot of chatter and news going around about Tampa Bay Buc’s wide receiver Antonio Brown having a fake covid-19 vaccine card. The Bucs came out and said that they did not believe his card was fake and that seemed like it was the end of it. It came out yesterday that he was indeed using a fake vaccine card, as well as two other players from the organization. The Bucs came out and said that their team was 100% vaccinated earlier in the year. Brown has been suspended for three games by the NFL. Brown is already out due to injury. This is not the first time Brown has made headline news for the wrong reasons. He has a history of it.

The article is for people who are fans of Antonio Brown or the Buc’s organization. The lead and the headline are very identical. Although they are not very catchy, they are very informative and get the information across. The article is very well written. It uses quotes and gives background information on the situation and those involved in the situation.

It is unclear what Brown’s future is as he seems to be involved with trouble a lot.

Classmate Story with anecdote

To be egotistical means to be excessively conceited or absorbed in oneself. Alex Ogorzaly fits right into that description.

Alex often thinks of himself as someone who sets goals and then achieves them. According to Alex “I want to be the best I can be at what I set my mind to and I will stop at nothing to succeed.” Alex played football at Morningside College and “ran people over.” He goes on by saying that he would be starting if the coach liked him. Although Coach Ryan always talks about putting the team before yourself, Alex ended up taking his senior year off because he wanted to enjoy his last year of college. He thought he should have gotten more playing time and that did not happen.

Alex also plays Pokemon religously. He is trying to level up his Pokemon and beat the game. The game does take a long time to beat and Alex is determined that he is the best at that game.

“I will put myself in front of others to protect myself at all times.” He always watches his own back and makes sure that he is doing good. He plays out all scenarios in his head all the time and makes sure that he chooses the one that best favors him.

Rapper Young Dolph has been shot in Memphis. Young Dolph was a well known Memphis Rapper. The motive was unclear. The rapper was 36. Young Dolph was often known for going to Makeda’s Homemade Butter Cookies, which was the location where he was shot down.

This article was very good. It has a great lead that would get people hooked. The headline also was very strong and it was what got me hooked to read this article. The article had a who, what, where, and a how. The why is still yet undetermined. There is a “why” for the article being written, but not why the rapper was shot. The article also uses quotes and the quotes are valuable to the story. The story is for people who are Young Dolph fans, people in Memphis, or crime junkies

The story is rumored to be connected to the shootings of other rappers around the Memphis area.

Science Story

Want to keep deer off the roads? Bring in the wolves!

Deer have often been a problem for drivers on back roads all over the country, especially in Wisconsin. How do can this be controlled and prevented from happening? Bring gray wolves back.

Ecologist Rolf Peterson had remembered driving through a remote road covered with dead deer. He said that that had changed with the arrival of gray wolves. In a short period of time, once wolves have colonized in a colony, deer vehicle collisions go down 24%.

By bringing wolves back, deer will have to be more careful roaming everywhere. In addition, the presence of wolves being back will help control deer population. With deer dying and being fearful of wolves, people driving on those roads will have less to look out for.

With wolves being back, this will help save money indirectly. With wolves come tourism which will generate more revenue and help save money in long run. Would someone rather spend money fixing their vehicle because they hit a deer or would someone rather spend money to see wolves?

Bringing wolves back will help prevent vehicles colliding with deers and will help control the population of deer. This will ultimately save lives, cars, and money.

Media Comparison

The two articles here talk about the allegations on Texans QB Deshaun Watson. Watson had requested a trade from the organization prior to these allegations. While there is not enough evidence to put Watson on the exempt list, he has not yet played this season. There is a lot of news with Watson between allegations and the trade rumors.

Both of these articles take a dive into the allegations and the trade rumors. The sports illustrated video talks about the allegations prior to the trade rumors. The sporting news article also leads with the allegations. I think that this is a smart way of doing it because without updates on that, there is no point in talking about the trade. If more news comes out about the trade, they need to be taken with a grain of salt until the sexual assault allegations get sorted out. The stories do contain the same content. They talk about the allegations and then the trade rumors. The sources aren’t sited very much because the allegation news have been floating around for a long time. The trade rumors come from Adam Schefter who is an an NFL insider. The video does show more pictures, but the only sound used was the voice of the narrator. The pictures used do help illustrate what is being talked about.

I noticed the articles were very similar in content and style. The news is interesting to for a lot of sports fans.

Article #2 Final

As the school year is getting on its way, that means all the students are back together and are in person again. COVID-19 is still an issue in the world as the country is still in a pandemic.

COVID-19 has been in the country for over a year and a half now. The country shut down in March of 2020, and many had to adjust. Morningside College at the time adjusted by going online for the second half of the 2020 Spring Semester. In fall of 2020, they] were back in person, but went to a hybrid schedule to help enforce social distancing. They also had a mask mandate and had certain rooms set aside for those who were exposed to the Coronavirus.

In spring of 2021, most classes went back to fully in person, but a mask mandate was still enforced. This fall Morningside College switched to Morningside University. This semester there really are not many COVID-19 guidelines. All courses are resuming in person, and there is no mask mandate by the University, although professors can still enforce the mandate for their classes if they choose.

As more and more people are getting vaccinated, Morningside University is offering an incentive for students to get vaccinated. The University is offering $50 bookstore credit for those who get vaccinated by November 1st.The incentive is a reward for students who get vaccinated.  The vaccination will help make campus a safer space for students to live the college experience.

Would this make students at Morningside University feel more inclined to getting the Vaccine?

Student Beau Panzer said “I appreciate the school for trying, but $50 gets you a sweatshirt. One sweatshirt with the Morningside Logo stamped onto it isn’t going to help persuade many people to get vaccinated.”.

Panzer also issued his concern with the vaccine. ” The more I read about the vaccine, the more I do not feel content getting it. I have my doubts about the effectiveness of the vaccine. I also do not know the long term risks getting the vaccine could put me in.”

Another student, Jordan Gano voiced his concerns on how he feels pressure to get the vaccine. Gano stated “I know very little about the vaccine, I just think it feels a bit strange that the Government is pushing for everyone to be Vaccinated.”

A couple of sources who chose to remain anonymous feel like everything COVID-19 related has to do with population control. Jacob Mitchell, who is vaccinated, said getting the Vaccine had nothing to do with the Morningside incentive. “…I chose to receive the vaccine for my own reasons. The $50 did not appeal to me very much. I will still use the $50 because I am going to receive it, but that is not why I chose to get the vaccine.”

Mitchell then went on to give his thoughts on how the University can make an incentive program that would appeal to more people. He said “If they really wanted their campus to be vaccinated, they would cut the costs of food or tuition. Instead they went with something that just is not all that appealing.”

While it seems the incentive program doesn’t seem to be the best choice Morningside could offer, students are still getting vaccinated. If students are vaccinated, they might as well use the incentive the University is offering because it is there for them to use.

Talk to a not-so-complete stranger

Cade Berendes, frat boy? Maybe. Cade Berendes is a Senior at Morningside University. He is a Business major with a Marketing Minor. He played football for three years, but is now just a full time student.

Cade says he is known for being a “party animal” on the weekends. He likes to party and have a good time. He says his life style has often given off frat boy vibes. He even won the frat boy award his freshman year at the Morningside Football Banquet. Cade works at the Hard Rock Casino in Sioux City and is a bookie for the sportsbook there. He says the job is something he enjoys because he likes to watch sports and bet on sports. Cade is well known at his job. The regulars often request him to placer the bets and has great interactions with a lot of people at his job. He is a very welcoming person and that tends to attract people to want to engage with him. He is very approachable and likes to poke fun with everyone. Cade wears cheap axe cologne and spikes his hair up. He often wears sweatshirts and makes it very memorable that he is a Dallas Cowboys fan. He is about 6 feet 2 inches tall and has the physique of someone who works out.

Cade was a very good not so complete stranger to talk to. He was very memorable and he seems to always enjoy life.
