Dannon Parker Jr was arrested this weekend in Lincoln, Nebraska after allegedly having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl.

On Tuesday, the girl Parker was having a sexual relationship with told the police that they had been in a relationship for 3 weeks and had sex multiple times on a public street where they both often slept as well. The title of this article does a really good job at grabbing a readers attention. I had been trying to find an article to do for this week when I read the headline for this one and found it very interesting. I think that is one of the most important jobs when writing articles is the header, if you don’t have a good header the chances of people reading your story are very unlikely.

I also wanted to try what we were doing in class on Tuesday with this article where you try to see how much you can read in the time the video report is. This particular article was 24 seconds long so I set my timer up and began to read. When the 24 seconds was up, I got about halfway through the article and read a lot of the important information that you would want to get out of this article.

Overall I think trying to time yourself when you read these articles is interesting and it’s a fun test to do to see how well your reading skills are. Also how good you are at retaining information.

  1. You’re quite right about headlines. They are important, and difficult to write. Nicely done, Christian.
