Maria Castelan was arrested on Wednesday night and charged with vehicular homicide for a crash that killed two people in Bellevue, Nebraska.

On September 23rd, Castelan was driving a Honda Odyssey on a road in Omaha when she ran a red light at an intersection and struck two cars. The passenger of Maria’s car, Garcia, was pronounced dead at the scene along with the driver of 1 of the cars that Castelan had hit, the article says his name was Fritz.

The other car that was involved with the crash had 3 people in it and thankfully they were all taken to Nebraska Medical Center with some injuries according to the Omaha Police Department.

Police identified alcohol and speeding to be the main factors in the crash along with reckless driving. Castelan charges included two counts of motor vehicle homicide while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

“These types of crashes are preventable with safe driving,” chief deputy county attorney Moore said in a recent press conference and also that, “Our thoughts are with the families of the victims.”

I really like the flow of this article and how direct and to the point it is. It tells us all of the important facts that we want to know and here without all of the unnecessary filler involved. However I do wish a couple more quotes could have been involved maybe from the prosecution side or the victims of the family. Or perhaps even the other 3 people that were involved in the car crash.

  1. OK overall. Car crashes are pretty simple actually. Getting quotes is difficult, though, because people leave or are hospitalized… or die. There are also legal issues for the people who are at fault.
