Love For All

Love is an idea that is engraved in every person. No matter how much people try to fight it, it is somewhere deep within, Everyone wants somebody to love them, but sometimes this can be tricky for kids who have ended up within a foster care program.

Today I had the pleasure of speaking with Paster Andy Nelson, Director of campus Administries at Morningside College. Paster Nelson has been involved with the foster program for just over a year now, and has made a definite impact on two children lives already. He explained the idea of “radical love” today which was something that I was not familiar with. This is the idea to spread love and humanity throughout your day to day lives as much as possible. Being a foster parent really shows his belief in this idea.

Paster Nelson stated how much he like the act of helping others. He explains, “Christianity has something important to say to the world, it has something important to say about our identity, and it has something important to say on how we treat and care for the people around us.”

Making this sacrifice can make a huge impact on a kids life in a positive way. Paster Nelson explained that he only has had foster children for small placements of about a year. This is the time when their actual parents are able to sort out the issues that are at hand, and get their own lives together without affecting the Childs. Many times this has to do with addiction or negligence and this foster program can be a stepping stone to helping kids grow happily as well as bring families back together.

It was stated that when many posters talk to kids about things such as faith, the real message is directed at adults in the area. He believes that it is important to give kids direct messages just as we do to adults. These ideas can skew influence kids, and help teach right from wrong.

Helping kids to get a grasp on their own lives is something that many people can’t say they would do. There are many struggles when having kids from different families or backgrounds but at the end of the day this will make a very helpful impact.

Spreading love shouldn’t have to be a chore, this is an idea that everyone should grasp onto. This could make our society a much better place to live in.
