Jalen Ramsey, No Regret

As an All-Pro athlete there have to be some boundaries of things that should be said, right? Not according to cornerback Jalen Ramsey. On August 29th, Mina Kimes posted an article on ESPN.

Jalen Ramsey is a cornerback for the Jacksonville Jaguars. This is not all he is known for. One of his more notable attributes is how much trash talk he talks on and off the field. There are only a few professional athletes that are notorious for shit talking, and he made the list. One of the main disclaimers of his is, “I’ll never change”.

He explains that this talk is not an act of disrespect, but an act of passion. He wanted to win so bad that he mixed his emotions with profession. “I don’t really care what people think about me, to be honest,” he says. “At. All.” The only problem with this is people tend to hold professional athletes to a higher standard than your every day average Joe. When does this kind of talk become a problem?

This man had a lot riding on him during his time with Jacksonville. They had a 2-8 record and things weren’t looking up. This was when he stated that the Jaguars were going to win the Super Bowl. This was incorrect, but the attitude that he created left an impact on many people. Some thought that this attitude was disrespectful and negative. Others believed that this was exactly what this team needed to improve.

This player was pro for a reason. The actions and decisions that he made created an outstanding opportunity for him. The only question was, is this trash talk necessary?
