NPR story

This article is a very hard story to take a viewpoint on. As a U.S. citizen genocide is a topic that people really don’t want to talk about at all. Looking at U.S. history there have been many occasions that genocide stands out as some of the worst moments in history. As a journalist there is a fine line between reporting things that are going on, and showing an act of support for a group that is considered a very disliked group of people throughout society. As an outsider who has never really had a foot in the world of journalism I don’t think that this is a story that I would cover, especially as a very large news company. I believe that if something were to happen at the event then it would be appropriate to cover the actions or outcome of the actual event. If people are reporting the actual event it seems to put a very bad connotation on the company. It gives the idea that certain companies show some kind of support for this event. In the article it explains that there may have been more journalist than actual supporters of the cause, which really makes this story look bad. There seems to be more involvement than need be just for the slim chance that something eventful will happen at the actual rally. This doesn’t seem like a smart move for any big corporation.
