Letter to Shareholders

September 29, 2022

CEO of Target, Brian Cornell wrote in letter to share holders that “We have locations that grew from $40 million in sales to $50 million or $60 million in the last couple of years, not all of which have received our key long-term growth drivers. Only about half of our nearly 2,000 stores have been touched by our extensive remodel program”. So the coming years are looking hopeful with the optimization of 200 stores per year.

Target plans to open nearly 30 stores per year, Which will add to their growing workforce of over 400,000. Target, even in he aftermath of Covid-19, has had a successful model for maintaining employees and customers as since 2019 they have increased their worth by tens of billions of dollars.

He said that in 40 years of business he’s never seen a better blend of teams aspirations and the ability to bring them to life. He believes that the potential is unlimited and they have “the resources, the momentum, the size, scale and unified ambition to do so”. The Target CEO believes the future revenue to be bright

FloIan downgraded to tropical storm, Florida waking up to damage from hurricane

https://www.foxnews.com/live-news/hurricane-ian-tracker-2022-news-path-weather-09-29-2022

For the most part it is an update of how local and state politicians are responding to the Tropical storm in Florida Hurricane Ian. The politicians are using this article as a way to spread information and let the people of Florida know that help is coming through quotes of promises

As far as fox goes this was a fairly educated article with very little bias. I expected it to bash Joe Biden a bit more for downgrading Ian from a Hurricane to a tropical storm. I was satisfies with the use of quotes and the overall feel of the article. it listed some safe places, and places that have resources available if help is needed. it was a very informational read.

Scavenger hunt

September 20, 2022

I made my way over to the registrars office and met a wonderful person named Katie. She stated a few times that she “wasn’t funny” before she went and delivered an incredible knock knock joke. The joke went “Knock knock” I replied who’s there and she said “Tank” I said “tank who” and she said “you’re welcome”. On a series note when she’s not cracking jokes and signing people up for classes she is having a heartfelt cry to the movie “Benjamin Button”

On my way out of the registrar office I seen a junior named Jason walking towards the library. We spoke about his competitive endeavors in the world of ping pong. A person he plays the most is his sister to which he says numerous times when they play “I just kicked your ass”. Sibling rivalries are a common theme in his favorite movie of all time “step brothers\

This article is well written. I think it is equal parts tribute and informative article. Obviously the reader if they care at all will. know that Roger Federer is a big deal but the way the journalist has structured the article we can really get a grasp of how important he was through quotes and talk of hardships he had to deal with. Overall a very good article and really to the minute stuff I got an alert from twitter and a few minutes later I got a full article on ESPN, Quality news very Quickly

Story 1 Draft

September 13, 2022

The NFL is Back

Thursday night in California the reigning Super Bowl champs the Las Angeles Rams have started their season against the incoming Super Bowl favorites the Buffalo Bills. The Bills lived up to the hype in a dominating fashion putting the former champs away 31-10

The game started off slow with only 1 touchdown in the first quarter but picked up in the second quarter with three scoring drives. those three scoring drives ended up matching the second half totals.

not for naught but Rams star wide receiver Cooper Kupp having an emphatic performance 128 yards and 1 touchdown off of 13 receptions. These superstar totals were only topped by a big performance from Josh Allen with 56 rushing yards, 1 touchdown, 297 passing yards and 2 touchdowns. that rushing touchdown carried Josh Allen to 14th all time in quarter back rushing touchdowns.

A nearly more impressive feat from Josh Allen going up against what many assumed would be the best corner in the league, the Best Middle linebacker in football, and one of the greatest D-Lineman of all-time in Jalen Ramsey, Bobby Wagner, and Aaron Donald. Josh Allen when targeting Ramsey put up a perfect passer rating of 158.3 all while avoiding the superstars pressure only allowing 2 sacks.

Solar Foods wants to replace industrial animal farming with a high-tech protein harvest https://techcrunch.com/2022/09/05/solar-foods-solein/

The article felt more like a history lesson then a story about high tech protein harvests. The article was supposed to be about new crops replacing the meat industry, and fulfilling the need for protein in the human diet.

The article was structured poorly, the beginning was historical stuff the reader might not be interested in and doesn’t talk about the company in question until the second paragraph. The article was also very wordy and could use some widdling down the word count. Also the author doesn’t seem very educated on the topic, they aren’t breaking down phrases it seems they are just regurgitating facts.

Ohio police officer fatally shoots Black man in bed, body camera shows

The Washington Post wrote an article about the body cam footage of a fatal police shooting being released. They were arresting a young man named lewis for assault and improper handling of a firearm

It was a short article but everything that you needed to know about the situation was in the first 2 paragraphs. The lead was short and sweet and the title was eyegrabbing and concise overall the article was pretty good apart from the person having been murdered.
