Man dead after Officer enters wrong apartment.

On September 6th, 2018 Officer Amber Guyger mistook Bothem Jean’s apartment for her own and shot him.  According to an arrest warrant Guyer opened the door of the unit and saw a large silhouette, which she thought was a burglar.

Guyger was arrested but was later on released after posting $300,000 bond.  The Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office did release of video of Guyger before her bond was posted of her sitting behind bars in handcuffs and in jail attire.

Jean’s attorney is calling for her to be fired immediately.  “We’re here eight days after his murder. Specifically, we are calling, we are demanding that Officer Amber Guyger be fired, terminated, immediately. She should not still be on the payroll … There’s no place for her … This is non-negotiable.”, said the family attorney Lee Meritt.

Recently a new conference came out reveling that in a search warrant a small amount of marijuana had been found in Jean’s apartment. Along with the 10.4 grams of marijuana, two fired cartridge casings, a black backpack with police equipment and paperwork, and a black police vest have also been found in the apartment.  Jean’s family attorney called it an attempt to smear and ruin his reputation.

After the news conference doezen of protesters marched Friday night from the Dallas Police Department towards the Dallas Morning News, FOX 4, and WFAA buildings downtown.  They held American flags and shouted “Botham Jean” as they walked.  Other protests included a small group in cars that stopped in westbound lanes of Interstate 30 blocking the traffic.
