Video games: Stevens and Burns Guest Speakers

The two speakers talked  quite a bit about all of the different studies they have completed.  For instance, they compared how GTA4 and Simpsons Hit N’ Run could make a difference in the violence in the participants.  Well, there wasn’t.  Actually, almost all of the studies suggested that there are no effects to be derived from any kind of gaming, thus far.  They are obviously going to continue the research into videogames.

I must say it was interesting listening to the speakers.  Granted, it was about videogames.  But, it was still intriguing.  I was not at all surprised that there were no differences in all of the studies the VGIER department has done already.  I have played for a long enough time and with enough different people to realize that there is no difference.  At least, I believe so.  But, I was surprised that with the extent of their research that there was hardly any differences thus far.  I honestly thought that there would be.  But, I wasn’t expecting it, so to say.  All in all, the speakers were awesome.
