Skeleton Found Due to Sandy

Super storm Sandy has damaged anything in its’ path, but has also brought a discovery of a skeleton found in New Haven.  A tree was uprooted and underneath, in its’ roots, is what seems a to be a time capsule holding human remains.  The area was a colonial burial ground but it was unknown that any remains were still in the ground there. City officials have roped off the area so a medical examiner can come get the body.

Read article here.

This is obviously news worthy because it is dealing with one of the largest natural disasters to hit the US. This is also bazaar though.  People are reading about finding destruction everywhere, but to have someone come across a skeleton is not common.  Also, it is news worthy because people didn’t know there was bodies in the ground here, it may lead to more digging up to see if anything else remains there. Also, stated in the article someone said this is someone’s family member.  So people need to know that if they had a family member possibly buried there, that the remains have come up and they deserve to have a proper burial again for them.

Good discussion, Natalie. I saw some video of trees being blown down. Big trees. Impressive.
