Who knew Macaroni Salad was life threatening?
At 5 p.m. a shooting was reported at the location of 617 Black Street. Neighbors called the police when they heard shots fired. The victim of the shooting has been identified as 38-year-old Laurette Brunson, newly wed to 50-year-old Richard Brunson.
Police arrived to the scene to find Richard Brunson missing and Laurette shot in the abdomen. Come to find out the argument began over a plate of macaroni salad being thrown and the weapon used was a .22-calibre handgun. Neighbor Walter Corse said, “I heard the sound of the shot, or I think I did. And then the son came out yelling ‘She’s been shot and can’t breathe!’” Laurette was taken to St. Luke’s hospital and is currently is currently recovering from her injury.
According to the neighbors the two had been living together for four or five months, along with Laurette’s three children. Walter’s mother, Marilyn Corse, said, “I just feel so bad for the kids having to see this.”
