Donald Trump made his presence felt this past weekend when he attended the Iowa vs. Iowa State football game.

The annual “Cy-hawk” game took place in Ames, Iowa on September 9 where roughly one hundred thousand Iowans came together to celebrate. This gathering was the perfect place for former president Donald Trump to make an appearance.

Trump, along with other republican candidates like Ron DeSantis and Vivek Ramaswamy came out in hopes of getting support from Iowans. In an article done by Fox news, Matt Whitaker said this: “President Trump attended this game in 2015 and remembers the incredible passion and electricity of the fans”. Whitaker was Trump’s acting attorney general during his time as president.

A USA Today article highlights some of the negativity that Trump received while at the football game. One of the more viral images is one of an Iowa State fan flipping off Trump with his middle finger.

Trump made his way through tailgates and even made an appearance at a fraternity house. The Associated Press reported that Trump spent some time at Iowa State’s Alpha Gamma Rho house, where he aimed to make an impression on the youth.

Former Iowa State Cyclone, Jack Whitver, the Iowa Senate majority leader, had this to say on Trump heading to the game. “Tens of thousands of Iowans will gather to tailgate and cheer on their favorite team,” Whitver said in a statement. “I’m proud to have President Trump witness the greatest rivalry in college sports.”

On the other end of the spectrum, the Donald Trump haters made their presence felt as well. A prop plane carrying a banner reading “Where’s Melania?” was seen flying around campus, per USA Today. This is a reference to the former first lady, who has been missing for the majority of Trump’s campaign trail.

The lead was clear. I don’t think anything is missing you have quotes and three sources. And it all makes sense.

I liked how you laid out the story. Very well done. The sources looked good the way you integrated the spokesperson. I did not like how you used the word “felt” in the first paragraph. It was a little off putting. I think it would look better if you were to say “made his presence known” instead of felt

It was good how you resaid the word felt toward the end of the paper to tie it all together. I think it would sound better if you said “known”
