Morningside junior Levi Von Hagen has his eyes set on a GPAC soccer championship.
Von Hagen has been a soccer player his whole life, and has always had love for the game. He grew up in Germany where he played club soccer starting at the age of 9. Von Hagen chose to come to Morningside because of the opportunity that it provided both academically and on the field.
“I am proud to be a part of the Morningside soccer team, and hope we continue our success throughout the year”, said Von Hagen in an interview.
The mustangs have started off 2-0 in GPAC play, and have an overall record of 3-2-3. Von Hagen noted that the challenging out of conference games prepared them well for what is to come in GPAC play. When asked about his favorite spoon-holder drink, he said that the blue monster energy drink was something that he enjoyed.
Carter Pinney came to Morningside looking for success on the diamond, but has found that some things in life are much more important than baseball.
Pinney, a Sioux City native, decided to come to Morningside because he wanted to play baseball. He never thought he would develop the relationships and connections that he has. The sophomore pitcher had this to say on his favorite thing about Morningside.
“My favorite thing about coming to Morningside so far has been the comradery I have built with my fellow classmates and teammates.”
He said he has grown a lot since stepping foot on campus, and attributes that to the connections he has built. Pinney also had this to say about the upcoming baseball season.
“We have a lot of pieces coming back from last season where we had a lot of success, but we also need some guys to step up.”
Pinney and the mustangs, who reached the national tournament last year, hope to achieve bigger and better things this year. They will use this offseason to sharpen their skills so they are ready to hit the ground running in the spring.
