Ban Ordered on Radar Guns
September 7, 2023 | | 1 Comment
On September 7th, East Dakota Highway patrol put an end to all hand held radar guns used by their state troopers. Spokesman Adam Smith says that the reason for the ban is due to negative effects that troopers could face. Many troopers were concerned that they could develop cancer due to long term exposure from radiation waves emitted by devices.
Smith says that the decision was made in order to err on the side of caution until more is known about these guns. This means the ban could lift in the future if further research shows that these guns are in fact safe.
The ban is considered to be the first of its kind by a state police agency in the Siouxland area. Many are glad that the agency is now looking out for the safety of its employees. Just two months ago, three municipal officers filed workman’s compensation claims saying they developed cancer from these guns. Hopefully this has been a wake up call for the agency, and they continue to put the safety of its troopers first.

Focus the lead on the info you have, Charlie:

“Put an end to” sounds permanent, and that may not be the case.
“Many are glad…” That sounds like an assumption. Do you have facts? Don’t go beyond what you know.
