Zach Hefty, a Morningside University student and baseball player, recently started his own clothing brand called UNWIND.

Hefty is super hard working, always striving for more, and loves keeping an open mind so that he can learn new things every single day.

One day, the new thing he wanted to learn was how to run a successful clothing business.

“I have always wanted to learn how to start and promote my own business from the ground up,” Hefty mentioned.

“It wasn’t just a spur of the moment decision; I thought for a long time and second guessed myself for a while.”

With some motivation from other close to him, and the drive to start something new, he started completing the steps required to start a business.

Hefty possesses all of the qualities that a successful businessperson needs. He most importantly loves to help others.

“I am also passionate about living a healthy lifestyle and being active,” Hefty added.

UNWIND. seemed to be his answer.

Brian Garcia, one of Hefty’s close friends, believes that Hefty has what it takes to be successful.

“Hefty is a passionate, hardworking individual who will apply his innovative methods to make his company successful,” Garcia states. “I have witnessed his hard work ethic throughout the years I have known him on the baseball team, and I believe that the characteristic will translate.”

UNWIND. is a motivational clothing brand that is focused on increasing customers’ motivational drive through social media and blog posts.

Hefty wants his recently debuted brand to continue to grow in hopes that his message can be shared with as many people as possible.

“One of my current goals is to reach 1,000 followers on Instagram,” Hefty states. “Making people aware of UNWIND. is the biggest step right now.”

In the future, Hefty hopes to hire employees, but for right now, he is focused on doing the majority of the blog posts, social media posts and mock designs himself.

Although he does most of the work himself right now, he had some help leading up to the reveal of his business. He often asks potential customers on how the motivational quotes affect them and also asks them for input on new clothing designs.

“The state of South Dakota has also been a huge help in the process. They helped me through the process of making UNWIND. a LLC,” Hefty said.

He also had to get help from the South Dakota Department of Revenue, to help apply state tax to all sales in South Dakota. Lastly, he needed help from the bank so that he could have a safe place to store the profit he is gaining from this company.

In a typical day, Hefty works hard to make numerous social media and blog posts to support his motivational brand. He then posts them, and depending on the post, he will boost the post in order to try and get it in front of more eyes. He also does a lot of research because he is still fairly new to the business world and having his own company.

Hefty has been satisfied with his feedback so far. A select few people have said they love the looks and feel of the clothing, and that all of the social media and blog posts look very professional. Many customers like the motivational aspect of the clothing because it gives them a subtle reminder throughout the day to keep pushing through.

Faith Miller, Hefty’s girlfriend, knows a lot about him and his vision.

“UNWIND. isn’t about going through the motions in order to get the day over with, it’s about making those motions beneficial so you can live a better life,” Miller comments.

Hefty is currently focused on his marketing strategy and how he can get people aware of his mission and vision in the Morningside area.

Bush’s® Beans Names Peyton Manning as Newest Bean Ambassador.

The story is about how Bush’s Beans hired Peyton Manning as an ambassador. Peyton Manning was in the NFL and was one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. He is now know for his TV personality.

The target audience for this release is for football players and people who like Bush’s Beans. In the article it states how Bush’s beans are a key football game day ingredient and how Bush’s Beans are the “Official Beans of the SEC”.

The benefit to the reader is seeing a NFL great continuing his life past football and partnering up with a brand that many people love in the United States. Manning is now a broadcaster on TV and many people love him, so knowing who he is and keeping his character in mind, people are going to associate him with Bush’s Beans and potentially buy more of them.

The company is receiving someone who represents how they view themselves as a company. Manning, hard work and dedication mirror that of Bush’s.

This story is very similar to some others I have done in this class, one thing is that press releases are often released the same day or very soon the next day in a timely manner. They are also much shorter and quicker to the case. This news is also directly from Bush’s Beans.

Oldest Polar Bear Found Dead This Morning at the Midland Zoo.

Homer, the oldest polar bear was found dead this morning. He was floating at the top of his exhibit about an hour after his feeding.

“Homer was a very curious and playful bear and we will miss him terribly,” Sara N. Getty commented.

The other two polar bears, a 9-year-old named Yukon and a 10-year-old named McKenzie were removed from the exhibit and are now being monitored by staff.

“We will do everything in our power to determine how this bear died. Animal welfare and the preservation of species are our primary goals here at the zoo,” Chris P. Bacon states.

Today’s incident will be investigated to determine the exact cause of death.

Polar bears have thrived at the zoo since 1985. Midland Zoo’s unique exhibit allows bear to engage in natural behaviors, playing in manufactured snow, digging in gravel and hunting trout in a chilled pool.

Two other animals also died this month, a giraffe, and a bobcat. The giraffe died from a broken neck and the bobcat died from renal failure.

Deion Sanders is leaving Jackson State to Coach in Colorado.

Sanders is doing what many college football coaches aspire to do. He had success at a smaller school and was offered an opportunity at a bigger school so he took it.

This decision doesn’t sit right with some people. Sanders was previously at Jackson State University, a historically black institution. Sanders made it seem possible that black coaches were getting more opportunity, historically black schools would gain more respect, and that the best African American players would start going to HBCU’s. After his departure, these thoughts started to dwindle. Sanders is going to start bringing his recruits to his bigger school of course, dragging them away from the previous HBCU.

This is news because Deion Sanders was a professional athlete that turned into a coach, so people know of him. Many football fans know of his success as a coach and the style of coaching that makes him successful. This is also news because it affects the perception of top athletes going to HBCU’s. Sanders had a great influence for that but now he is gone. The news values covered would be impact, prominence, and human interest.

How to Manage Credit Card Debt When Holiday Shopping.

Credit card balances are starting to get back up to levels like they were pre-pandemic. Card delinquency has been relatively low, but is now starting to increase as well. This leads to credit card debt when holiday shopping. Young adults need to remember that they don’t have to buy expensive and fancy gifts. It’s about being reunited with our families. One way to manage credit card debt is to set a budget in advance. Another way is to buy one present that benefits a whole family, rather than buying something for each individual. Something to keep in mind is to pay more than the required minimum payment for your credit card bill. It will save you from paying extra on interest.

This is news because the holidays are right around the corner. Many people are going shopping for their loved ones and might experience credit card debt. Reading this article might help them be proactive. News values used in this article are human-interest, timeliness, and possibly impact and conflict. Impact and conflict might be new values because if people don’t take action early, they are going to be paying off their debt for a while and not have enough money to make other payments.

Christmas at Morningside tickets available beginning Monday, Oct. 17

I would consider this news because many people from Morningside and Sioux City attend this event as well as parents. So it falls under human-interest.

Potential audiences are Morningside students, Sioux City citizens, and parents of students.

The purpose of the story is to promote this event and let everyone know that the tickets went on sale Oct. 17 and to get them before they sell out.

The readers of the story gain the benefit of getting their ticket early, and not waiting until last second when they could possibly be sold out.

The benefit is getting to enjoy a Christmas performance while the performers benefit would be having some support from an audience.

Morningside gains some attention towards their choir and band program showing off all of their talented singers and musicians.

Dwier Brown makes special guest appearance for Miracle League of Sioux City Fundraiser.

On Tuesday night, Dwier Brown, the actor that plays Ray Kinsella’s father in the ‘Field of Dreams’ movie, was in Sioux City to help out with the Miracle League fundraiser. Dwier Brown also got the opportunity to play catch with Kevin Negaard who runs the Wanna Have a Catch? campaign which supports the Miracle League. It was Kevin’s 301st consecutive time playing catch this year while raising awareness for the foundation. Dwier helped raise a lot of money for the Miracle League which allows them to continue to grow.

This is news because many Iowans know about the ‘Field of Dreams’ movie which takes place in Iowa. It is cool to read and see that an actor from the movie is helping out locally. So it covers the news value of uniqueness and proximity right there. It also covers the value of prominence because Dwier Brown is famous in Iowa.

Taryn- Responsible

Taryn Davidson’s day to day responsibilities don’t just stop after class, they continue all afternoon and night at Arena Fit in Sioux City.

Taryn must be responsible when it comes to her job at Arena Fit. She is the social media coordinator and graphic designer for the business.

Taryn has to communicate and post things on time, specifically before big deadlines. Some physical pieces she works on are brochures, banners, and apparel. Most of her ideas spark from shooting actual content in the office.

Recently, Taryn worked on a project for college football trivia recently where she had to coordinate with others to get the questions set up for the event as well as the correct music to fit the mood. Her responsibilities didn’t stop there. She then had to post on social media to get the word out about the event, post on their app, and prepare the physical location.
