On August 28, 2023, there was an Alaskan fisherman named Joe Chmeleck, he also was an owner of The Lodge at Otter Cove, in Homer, Alaska. He recorded a vibrant, orange-speckled fish, Rock greenlings that he caught.
He also posted the incredible staff through Facebook and other platforms while he was cooking that fish. His video was showing the fully-skinned blue fish fillets changed color when pan-fried in oil. On the content he posted, it said”Went out fishing today and caught a rock greenling. The flesh is blue. It turns white when you cook it. Mother nature is incredible.” This amazing thing made people on social media come to comment in a way that they hadn’t seen this type of fish species before.
However, The Alaska Department of Fish and Game still doesn’t suggest consumption because they haven’t been unsuccessful in gathering a sufficient sample size to determine mercury levels for the species.

The news here is WHY the fish is blue. The story kind of buries that — bad organization?
