The Story on ESPN about the Las Vegas Raiders players slipping up and not wearing masks at an event caught my attention this week. The NFL has been cracking down on people who are not wearing masks on the field or off the field at events.

Earlier this week the coach of the Raiders was fined $100,000 for not wearing his masks on the sideline correctly. They were also fined for having unauthorized personal in their locker room after the Sept 21st game. Making this event even that more interesting to read about.

The story in general was ok it used a lot of quotes from the players that were involved stating they were sorry. While they were also trying to back up themselves of why they took the masks off at the event. I can’t really can’t complain about this article because it is really written well. Also liking the transition from each piece of information that make it go together really well.

Interview Story

Steven Postolka a Morningside Alumni who graduated in 2011 gave us an interesting interview on how he became interested in law. He started off by going into why he likes law stating “ I choose law because I like how I can be intellectual while also being able to help people out in need of my services”.

Postolka is currently is working for the Sioux City where he represents the city when a court cases goes against them. With Postolka being a Litigator Postolka expresses that “95% of the litigators work happens outside the court room”. Where they have to look into what the case is about while, also getting more information of why the city is getting sued. With Covid 19 work has been slow for Postolka. Postolka is one of the lucky few who have a set wage to where not matter how long he works he will be getting paid that amount. Compared to his other job where he was getting $250 an hour to do the job or take on a case.

One of the hardest things to deal with in Postolka line of work was that “he had to work with certain clients who were just hard to get along with or were not realistic about what they want out of the court case”.  Making it much harder on Postolka to close out a court case until both parties are satisfied with what they are getting. Giving in site on how lawyers have to work out with other lawyers to make a deal happen so both parties can be happy. Where the outcome of the case benefits both parties that are in it.

Finding the news report about a doctor puncturing quarterback Tyrod Taylor’s lung to be very interesting to read about. This happen just before kickoff on Sunday.

The team doctor was trying to administer a pain-killing injection to the quarterback cracked ribs area when he made a mistake and punctured Tyrod Taylor’s lung. The injury was not life threatening but it did bring up a investigation from the NFL Players Association.

This story was just interesting to read. The details in the ESPN report made me want to keep reading it. The reporter gave a lot of good quotes from the coach and one from the player that was injured because of the doctor. Giving you in-site of how they both are taking it. The only thing I wish he did was give a little more information about the doctor who did the administration of the pain-killer.

NCAA men’s and women’s college basketball season can start November 25. This story by Jeff Borzello is very interesting because he lays it out very nicely with a bunch of quotes from different higher up from the NCAA basketball office.

It makes the quality of the story that more interesting on why the NCAA decided on this start date. While also give details on how they are hoping this start date can be better from players safety and health.

The only thing I don’t like about this article is that he does not give a perspective on what the coaches might be thinking about only have conference games. While also, not give a view of how the students might be feeling with everything that is going on in the world like protesting and Covid.

Interview

Skylar McDermott a Morningside Senior says ” I wish the school would give out more information about what is happening around campus with Covid and what could happen if school closes”.

It is understandable though since if school was to close she would only have to travel 30 minutes away compared to other students who might have to travel far distances to get back home. Skylar ” has not been paying much attention to Covid on campus because there nothing really a student can do if they do speak out”.

The school has not been giving out much information on Covid other than the testing sites that they just put up for students. The school needs to put out more information in the coming weeks to keep students informed about decision being made on campus about Covid.

When asked if he had any question Black responded, “At the Moment, No I don’t”.

Blakes attorney entered a ple of not guilty for all three charges on Friday. The Judge approved a $10,000 signature bond for Blake. In addition to the $500 cash bond already in place as bail. Blake is recovering in the hospital well. He has been handcuffed to his bed because of the bail bond that still needs to be paid. The next court date is October 21 with the jury being brought in on November 9. During this time, they are going to go over the last two charges to see if they are going to be drop or will he have to do some time for them.

With the shooting of Blake, it added fuel to the fire of the protesting that was already going on in Kenosha Wisconsin. Two protestors that were fight against the shooting of Blake were killed in Kenosha amid the widespread looting and vandalism.

Blake also got the chance to talk to former vice president Joe Biden from his hospital bed over the phone Thursday.  The democratic president nominee was in Kenosha doing his campaign. Wisconsin is a state where anyone can win it at this point.

Observation

September 10th, 2020

Sitting in the Plex lounge room I got to listen into someone practicing a speech they might be giving during class about Covid-19. While others were still talking about Carole Baskin and how they hate her for what she did. One person was talking about someone they know has Covid-19 on campus and how they don’t want to meet up with them for a project. Another person was agreeing with her saying that if he got Covid it would be from someone else other than her.

People in the lounge were also talking about different classes. For example, a campaign and elective class someone is taking was getting interest from many people looking to take it next semester for classes they need. He said it was going well and that seemed to settle everyone down about the class.

Sports were also a hot topic about the woman’s volleyball team who played Briar Cliff last night and won in 4 sets. It seemed to be an interesting game with Kayla getting most of the attention digging balls like cake last night. Forcing the Briar Cliff woman to lose their cool over it. She was a big reason on why they won last night

Acc coach are proposing that there be a whole division 1 tournament. This is news worthy because it’s getting people hopes up that there will be some sort of college basketball tournament through this pandemic.

It is going to be a bubble environment for the players just like how the NBA is doing it. But this is great news for people at home because they might have something to watch during the normal tournament months instead of their being nothing to watch.

Also great for the student athletic because they have something to look forward to. While also seeing that action are taking place so they can be safe during the tournament.
