By Grace Nordquist–<\/strong>\u201cTasty\u201d is a company most popular for its food videos and recipes. While they sell some products like cookbooks and cookware, they have not released any food products sold in stores\u2026until now that is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Tasty” just released four different ice cream flavors that can be found in select stores, such as Dollar General, Lowes, and Hy-Vee. We only know for sure that the Sioux City Hy-Vee has them because that\u2019s where my friends Jackson, Mo and I purchased them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We got all four flavors to try: Vanilla Galaxy Twist, White\nChocolate Raspberry Lava Cake, Chocolate Pretzel Crunch, and Peanut Butter\nS\u2019mores Smash. Each were 14 fl. ounces at a pricey $5 each. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

First we noticed the packages\u2019 bright coloring. They were a\ncombination of bright colors that set themselves apart from the other ice cream\npackaging. The containers also had their social media handles on it which was\nsmart on their part.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first flavor we dug into was the PB S\u2019more Smash. Its\ningredients include: peanut butter-marshmallow ice cream with peanut butter\ncups, graham cracker crunchies, mini marshmallows, and fudge swirl. At first\nbite, I noticed the marshmallow flavoring in the ice cream itself. Often times\nif ice cream has marshmallow they\u2019re just little marshmallows not the\ncream\/flavoring. I liked that the ice cream itself had more of the marshmallow cream\nmixed with peanut butter, it made it unique. Jacksons first reaction to this\nflavor was \u201cMmmmm.\u201d Mo commented, \u201cI like the peanut butter and marshmallow\ncombo.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next was the Vanilla Galaxy Twist. This included classic\nvanilla ice cream, blue frosting swirls, caramel flavored stars, rainbow\nsprinkles, and rich chocolatey flakes. When first opening it, Mo commented, \u201cIt\nlooks very fun.\u201d After digging in, she added, \u201cI don\u2019t\u2019 know how I feel about\nit. The frosting swirls are really getting to me.\u201d The frosting had the\noverpowering flavoring, as Jackson commented \u201cIt\u2019s like birthday cake.\u201d I would\nagree with both that the frosting taste was quite strong, but personally I liked\nit. It does give it a fun but very fake or artificial taste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Feeling fruity, we broke into the White Chocolate Raspberry\nLava Cake. Ingredients in this include: white chocolate flavored ice cream,\nthick swirls of raspberry, and chunks of white cake. This one was different\nfrom the other flavors, Jackson noting, \u201cIt taste fresh.\u201d This came from the\nraspberry flavoring, which Mo added, \u201cIt has a good mix of flavors.\u201d I would\nagree this one was different and sweet in a new way, being the only fruit one.\nPersonally, I didn\u2019t like the cake chunks, and thought it would be better if it\nwere cheesecake. The cake just seemed average and brought down the flavor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last was the Chocolate Caramel Pretzel Crunch which\ncontained a rich chocolate ice cream, pretzel bites, and a salted caramel swirl.\nMo and Jackson both made notes about liking the crunch coming from the\npretzels. As Jackson put it, \u201cSweet and savory with a crunch.\u201d I would agree\nthe crunch is fun and this one definitely had the most intense, rich flavor. It\u2019s\none of those tastes where you take the first bite and go \u201cWOAH.\u201d If you\u2019re not\na fan of chocolate, you won\u2019t like this one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When it came to picking our favorites it seemed we all had\nan obvious first and last, but struggled to pick the in-between. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mo\u2019s favorites were as follows, best to worst: Chocolate\nCaramel Pretzel Crunch, Peanut Butter S\u2019mores Smash, White Chocolate Raspberry\nLava Cake, and Vanilla Galaxy Twist. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jacksons favorites were: Chocolate Caramel Pretzel Crunch,\nPeanut Butter S\u2019more Smash, Vanilla Galaxy Twist, and White Chocolate Raspberry\nLava Cake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It wasn\u2019t easy picking, but my favorite was the Peanut\nButter S\u2019mores Smash, followed by the Vanilla Galaxy Twist, Chocolate Caramel\nPretzel Crunch, and the White Chocolate Raspberry Lava Cake. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flavors were all pretty good, but I would most recommend\nthe Peanut Butter S\u2019mores Smash and the Chocolate Caramel Pretzel Crunch. The\nVanilla Galaxy Twist was good but I think you can eat a similar tasting one of\nanother brand for less money. I wouldn\u2019t recommend the White Chocolate\nRaspberry Lava Cake because of the cake pieces. It was good to try once, but I\ndon\u2019t need it again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overall, the new “Tasty” flavors are a lot of fun which I think was the brand\u2019s goal. It was fun to try all the flavors together and if they weren\u2019t so expensive (and unhealthy) I\u2019d do it again. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
