The artist has to consider so many different things, like the visual\ndynamic of the gallery, lighting, and the use of wall space. Senior art\nstudents have been experiencing this process first hand as they set up their\nsenior shows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/files\/2019\/04\/acrylic-art-brush-1012982-800x533.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9980\" width=\"362\" height=\"241\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/files\/2019\/04\/acrylic-art-brush-1012982-800x533.jpg 800w, https:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/files\/2019\/04\/acrylic-art-brush-1012982-200x133.jpg 200w, https:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/files\/2019\/04\/acrylic-art-brush-1012982-400x267.jpg 400w, https:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/files\/2019\/04\/acrylic-art-brush-1012982-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 362px) 100vw, 362px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Megan Stoberl, a senior photography\nmajor who presented her show earlier this semester, said that the process starts\nwith a lot of thought and figuring out how you want to put your show together &#8211;\nfor example: whether or not there is a theme, which art works you want to use,\nor even something as simple as label design. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before any art is hung on the wall,\nall art and photos have to be mounted or matted, which Stoberl said took her at\nleast eight hours. In total, she spent a minimum of 72 hours figuring out the\nlayout and the content. This isn\u2019t including the time she spent planning her\nreception. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stoberl described the process of\nsetting up a show as \u201cstressful and taxing\u201d but in the end, very rewarding. She\nwent on to say \u201cFor the last four years, you work hard to develop your personal\nstyle and it\u2019s nice to see your work displayed for everyone to see.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rae Clinkenbeard, another art student who\nhas experience setting up her own photography show, said that it is important\nto \u201cconsider how much of your work will fit in the space.\u201d She also pointed out\nthat if you have time, creating a plan for the layout of the gallery space and\nwhere each piece will go will help when it\u2019s time for the art to be hung. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The next time you go to an art show, make\nsure you take notice of how the art is displayed and know that a lot more\neffort and planning went into the show than just the art work itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t forget to check out the current\nand two upcoming Senior Shows in the Eppley Art Gallery.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Tracie Tuttle&#8211;Setting up an art show is more than just hanging art on a wall, it includes a lot of preparation, organization, and patience.
