In recent years, Meisner has changed his techniques to teach students simple but effective ways to injure their attacker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/files\/2019\/03\/fullsizeoutput_25c-800x450.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9903\" width=\"555\" height=\"312\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/files\/2019\/03\/fullsizeoutput_25c.jpeg 800w, https:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/files\/2019\/03\/fullsizeoutput_25c-200x113.jpeg 200w, https:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/files\/2019\/03\/fullsizeoutput_25c-400x225.jpeg 400w, https:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/files\/2019\/03\/fullsizeoutput_25c-768x432.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 555px) 100vw, 555px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI teach my students that they\nshould not try to over-power their attacker and I also teach them not to use\ncomplex moves,\u201d explained Meisner. \u201cThis would not work in a real-life\nsituation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The classes involve learning\nabout an attacker\u2019s weaknesses and the proper use of pepper spray or keys\nagainst them. The overall goal of the course is to teach students how to injure\ntheir attacker enough where they can get away and call for help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meisner expresses that he\nwants both men and women to attend the class and support each other. He wants\nevery student to feel safer when they leave his class than when they first\nwalked in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI believe it is very\nimportant for EVERY student to learn self-defense,\u201d shared Meisner. \u201cAnyone can\nbe a victim.&nbsp; Too often people think that nothing bad will ever happen to\nthem and have a false sense of invincibility.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"729\" height=\"481\" src=\"https:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/files\/2019\/03\/fullsizeoutput_25e.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9904\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/files\/2019\/03\/fullsizeoutput_25e.jpeg 729w, https:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/files\/2019\/03\/fullsizeoutput_25e-200x132.jpeg 200w, https:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/files\/2019\/03\/fullsizeoutput_25e-400x264.jpeg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 729px) 100vw, 729px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Jerry Meisner went on to\nshare last year\u2019s news topics about two Iowa girls who were attacked and killed,\nemphasizing the need to learn self-defense. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When attending the classes,\nstudents are encouraged to bring a friend or partner to practice on.
