Sorry to say, the time has come to leave those two loves for weekend visits and get ready for another semester of dorm life.<\/p>\n<p>But don\u2019t worry, for all Resident Assistants (RA) and Head Residents (HR) are hopping back into the working role of being a housekeeper, parent, friend, and event planner to make life in the dorms enjoyable for all their residents.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love a lot about being an RA and the sense of community surrounding the position,\u201d says junior and second-year RA, Rachel De Jong. \u201cI get to form a strong bond with those I\u2019m on staff with through weekly meetings, semester training, duty rounds, and planning functions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With that said, Residence Life is looking for new RA applicants for the 2019-2020 school year to help continue making dorm life fun, comfortable, and overall great college experience.<\/p>\n<p>Residence Life needs outgoing and responsible individuals who can create a fun and safe atmosphere in the dorms. Living in the dorms at Morningside College is a huge deal to a large portion of the students on campus. RA\u2019s have a huge job where they have to create interactive programs for the building\u2019s community to get involved in, being a mediator between roommates, offering a hand or ear for individuals, and not being afraid to be the \u201chall monitor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA must to becoming an RA is the ability to form relationships with the people around you quickly,\u201d says DeJong. \u201cResidents need to feel that they can trust you, rely on you, and be comfortable around you.\u201d RA\u2019s have to always be aware of what\u2019s happening in their halls and being both the \u201cgood guy\u201d and the \u201cbad guy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Potential RA applicants also have to meet the formal requirements of Residence Life such as: being enrolled at Morningside College with at least 12 credits, maintaining a GPA of 2.25 for both semesters, currently or having lived on campus for at least one or more semesters, and having already completed a minimum of 12 college credit hours.<\/p>\n<p>DISCLAIMER: Being an RA doesn\u2019t mean you get your room or board free! RA\u2019s are paid a full monthly stipend that pays for their room. They are given a single room to themselves and a hall to manage. During breaks, RA\u2019s have the opportunity to earn extra stipends for working non-school days.<\/p>\n<p>If you have any of the qualities above and fulfill the requirements, you can apply for the Residence Assistant at this <a href=\"https:\/\/my.morningside.edu\/campus_offices\/residence_life\/residence_life_staff_applications\/\">link<\/a> and click on morningside.erezlife.com in the New Candidates section.
