The pieces were hung in the Eppley Art Gallery, and were displayed for approximately three weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Director of the art department Terri McGaffin encouraged students to enter the show for two main reasons.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne reason is that there is much to be gained from seeing your\u00a0art\u00a0in a gallery setting,where it becomes a shared experience.\u00a0 Another reason is that two professionals in the field of\u00a0art\u00a0and design see your work, when they come to choose award winners.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The judges of this year\u2019s art show were Dave Webster and Joel Damon. Webster is the principal and creative director of\u00a0Webster, an Omaha brand design firm founded in 1982. He graduated from Minneapolis College of\u00a0Art\u00a0and Design in 1977. Damon graduated from Briar Cliff University in 2015 with an\u00a0art\u00a0major and an art\u00a0history minor. Prior to that, his 40-year career was in psychiatric social work and as psycho therapy.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-9155 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/files\/2018\/02\/IMG_7397-400x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/files\/2018\/02\/IMG_7397-400x300.jpg 400w, https:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/files\/2018\/02\/IMG_7397-200x150.jpg 200w, https:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/files\/2018\/02\/IMG_7397-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/files\/2018\/02\/IMG_7397-800x600.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/>During the art show reception, held on Wednesday 21st February, juror Joel Damon addressed the attendees and expounded on each placed art work. Damon pointed out that the overall quality of the show left an impact.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was an honor to be asked to come and participate in this experience. . . \u00a0One thing is that so many of your pieces struck us as jurors and as a result of that we had many honorable mentions,\u201d Damon said.<\/p>\n<p>Every 1<sup>st<\/sup>, 2<sup>nd<\/sup> and 3<sup>rd<\/sup> place winner received congratulatory prize money.
