{"id":8626,"date":"2017-04-17T21:14:53","date_gmt":"2017-04-18T02:14:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/?p=8626"},"modified":"2017-04-18T10:04:05","modified_gmt":"2017-04-18T15:04:05","slug":"the-easter-bunny-makes-an-appearance-at-morningside-college","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/archives\/8626","title":{"rendered":"The Easter Bunny Makes an Appearance at Morningside"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>(4.17.17) By Maggie Ganley&#8211;<\/strong>The Easter bunny came a little bit earlier than expected to Morningside College thanks to Alpha Omicron Pi\u2019s Hop Out Arthritis event.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_8628\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8628\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-8628\" src=\"http:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/files\/2017\/04\/Hop-Out-Arthritis-2017-400x300.jpeg\" alt=\"Hop Out Arthritis 2017\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/files\/2017\/04\/Hop-Out-Arthritis-2017-400x300.jpeg 400w, https:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/files\/2017\/04\/Hop-Out-Arthritis-2017-200x150.jpeg 200w, https:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/files\/2017\/04\/Hop-Out-Arthritis-2017-768x576.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/files\/2017\/04\/Hop-Out-Arthritis-2017-800x600.jpeg 800w, https:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/files\/2017\/04\/Hop-Out-Arthritis-2017.jpeg 960w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-8628\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Hop Out Arthritis 2017<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Hop Out Arthritis is an annual event Alpha Omicron Pi (AOII) puts on for the Siouxland community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis year we raised over $1,000 for Arthritis research, which is the highest amount since we created the event three years ago,\u201d AOII\u2019s president Erica Young stated.<\/p>\n<p>This philanthropy event helps raise money for AOII\u2019s philanthropy, the Arthritis foundation and all profits from the event are donated to arthritis research.<\/p>\n<p>The event was held Sunday, April 9<span style=\"font-size: small\">,<\/span>\u00a0on the green space outside of Lewis Hall.<\/p>\n<p>26 kids registered for the Easter egg hunt and the help from 29 donors made the event possible.<\/p>\n<p>Not only was there an Easter egg hunt for children ages 2-14, but there was also a silent auction, a bake sale, and face painting.<\/p>\n<p>Hop Out seemed to have a good response from parents and grandparents, but there are improvements that can be made in the future.<\/p>\n<p>As Shannon De Clute said about the event, \u201cThe great thing about Hop Out is that it was not overwhelming for my son.\u00a0 He gets nervous if there are too many people, but Hop Out was a more pleasant size and he was able to really enjoy collecting the eggs.\u00a0 It was great watching him get excited about opening them and finding candy.\u00a0 If I had a request for next year, it might be more variety in candy.\u00a0 Since he is only 2, much of the candy he is not allowed. \u00a0 The AOII sisters were very helpful and energetic.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(4.17.17) By Maggie Ganley&#8211;The Easter bunny came a little bit earlier than expected to Morningside College thanks to Alpha Omicron Pi\u2019s Hop Out Arthritis event.
