Emily Houlsworth says, \u201cI love coming back because I get to see all my friends again, and starting a new semester is exciting.\u201d But some students, like Joelle Kruger think, \u201cThe break was too short.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, on this either exciting or dreaded day of returning, the travel conditions are precariously icy. Jake Holck says, \u201cThe roads south of Sioux City are really icy. I slid around once I got onto Morningside campus.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kruger, an RA, said, \u201cI\u2019ve noticed that a lot of transfer students have checked in early. And today (January 10) most of the students checking in are returners, and they\u2019re just grabbing their keys and going. It seems like a lot of people are waiting until later to check in because the roads are bad. I\u2019ve already talked to one person who is going to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>No matter what the conditions, spring semester classes will begin Wednesday, and the residence life staff is ready to welcome new and returning students.<\/p>\n<p>Houlsworth enjoys the process. She said, \u201cChecking in and getting your keys is relatively easy. You just have to say your name to get the keys. It\u2019s not a long process, and the RAs are warm and friendly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Validation is another important part of the day before classes begin. It is an extremely important process that normally has strict deadlines.
