When finals week just kicked you down and made you feel poorly about yourself. What\u2019s the best way to lighten up your mood so that you can forget about that C- you barely scraped up in chemistry? Some of your favorite holiday songs and movies on repeat!<\/p>\n

I went around asking some students across campus about some of their most frequently played songs or movies around the holiday season. While I got many different answers, almost all of their reasons were the same: \u201cIt just puts me in the holiday spirit!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI love Polar Express,\u201d chimed Kara Grassau, a sophomore. \u201cIt talks about the true meaning of Christmas, and the music really cheers me up.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Polar Express is one of the most popular animated Christmas movies of all time, especially in younger generations, that doesn\u2019t mean some Morningside students prefer one of the all-time classic animated movies.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have to go with Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer,\u201d said Emalee Barton, a junior and an education major. \u201cIt always finds a way to put me in the best moods.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last year, I watched It\u2019s A Wonderful Life for the first time ever. It turned out to become an immediate favorite of mine. For those who haven\u2019t seen it, I highly recommend doing so. I\u2019m not the only one who suggests it for everybody.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you don\u2019t see It\u2019s A Wonderful Life,\u201d explained Mitch Kellogg, a junior, \u201cyou\u2019re missing out. It shows that you have to appreciate what you have and how much people take things for granted. The movie is a reminder to take a step back in your life and remember how lucky you are sometimes.\u201d<\/p>\n

While these movies are great to sit by a fire with your family and watch with some popcorn, some of Morningside\u2019s favorite holiday songs let you get in the right mood when you\u2019re in the car or when you\u2019re decorating the tree.<\/p>\n

\u201cOh my gosh, I love Mistletoe by Justin Bieber,\u201d stated senior Morgan Fogelman, emphatically. \u201cIt\u2019s just so catchy!\u201d<\/p>\n

Sometimes the newer songs by newer artists tend to get people fired up for the season. However, that\u2019s not the case for everybody.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love Little Drummer Boy,\u201d said senior Matt Klemme, to the surprise of some of his classmates. \u201cWhat? It\u2019s a classic. And a low-key banger.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sometimes, you just fall for those songs that are more obscure than others. That\u2019s the case for senior Taylor Weiler.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot everybody knows this song, but my favorite is Little Drummer Boy\/Peace on Earth by David Bowie and Bing Crosby. Everybody knows the names, but not the song. I think that\u2019s one reason I like it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maybe some of these movie and song choices aren\u2019t the ones you are watching or listening to this holiday season. Regardless, your best bet for getting out of the funk that is finals week is watching your favorite holiday movie and listening to your favorite holiday song.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
