Others learn to take their struggles and use them as motivation to go farther then they have ever gone before. This is exactly what Savannah Larson has done her whole life.<\/p>\n<p>Being born without hip sockets and a clubbed foot is not something you can easily ignore.\u00a0 However, Larson has battled through over 20\u00a0surgeries and has worked past her disabilities to become a collegiate athlete and has been on the Morningside swim team for three years.<\/p>\n<p>NAIA swimming season is over, but Larson is still in the pool training for the Paralympic Trials. She is heading to Charlotte and competing in the 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle, 400-yard freestyle, and 100-yard butterfly. She will compete June 30, July 1, and July 2.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m super excited for this opportunity,\u201d said Larson. \u201cOf course I wouldn\u2019t be here without my team, Coach Bryan Farris and other coaches, and my parents. Without them believing in me I would never have made it this far.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Larson hopes to be on the Road to Rio this fall along with the rest of the Paralympic National Team.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Alyssa Nehring&#8211;A lot of people take things for granted.
