\"Copperwood\"By Darius Hicks–Junior Neeia Cooperwood broke two school records and earned a total of four medals during competition at the Sioux City Relays. The effort earned her MVP in the women\u2019s collegiate division for the second year in a row.<\/p>\n

Cooperwood began her record-breaking performance Friday when she won the 400-meter dash with a time of 55.41 surpassing the previous record set in 2001 of 55.71. Saturday she would continue her MVP performance by winning both the 100 and 200 meters. Cooperwood competed in the special invitation 200 meters placing a time of 24.11 breaking her own record of 24.30 set just last year. Cooperwood also competed in the long jump where she finished second with a distance of 19-5 1\/4.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt feels great to get MVP of the Sioux City relays; winning it the first time was an honor. But to have won it two years in a row is a true blessing\u201d Said Cooperwood.<\/p>\n

Cooperwood is a five time NAIA All American in both the long jump and the 200-meter dash, many athletes would be satisfied with these accomplishments but Cooperwood has her eye on a bigger title. \u201cMy ultimate goal is to be a National Champion in one of these if not both events. I\u2019ve been blessed to do well so far, so I guess well have to wait and see what the rest of the season has in store\u201d<\/p>\n

Morningside will compete in the Northwestern invitational track meet Thursday, April 14th, in Orange, City Iowa.<\/p>\n
