\"TSU\"By Lauren Sorenson–<\/strong>Morningside will be welcoming a new student organization next fall: the Transfer Student Union (TSU).<\/p>\n

Jack O\u2019Brien, Student Advocate on the Morningside Student Government, has been spearheading the project along with several other students.<\/p>\n

O\u2019Brien said there has been a history of transfer students coming to the Student Government seeking some sort of representation. \u201cThis year, we had students who were strongly vocal about transfer issues.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMany transfers have a difficult time finding somewhere to meet people, getting involved in activities, and talking about the issues they face simply because they don\u2019t have a resource or outlet that provides them with these services,\u201d O\u2019Brien said. The typical response from transfer students about this new organization is \u201cabout time!\u201d<\/p>\n

The exact description of the group is still in progress. As of right now, the group will meet weekly and will start off meetings with an open discussion. After that, a student will bring up a topic of discussion that may include \u201cissues specific to transfers or projects the group is taking on.\u201d<\/p>\n

O\u2019Brien adds, \u201cOther student organizations will also come and present at the group semi-regularly to educate transfers about other organizations on campus and how they can get involved.\u201d Transfer students will be the focus of this organization but all students are encouraged to come.<\/p>\n

Molly Williams will be the faculty advisor for the group. Tiffany Brasby will serve as president for the Transfer Student Union.<\/p>\n

O\u2019Brien said, \u201cThe group is still in formulating stages, so we welcome your influence and encourage you to get involved. We\u2019re looking to create a whole new community of students, so we\u2019ll take all the help we can get!\u201d<\/p>\n
