The meet began Friday night, the high for the day being<br \/>\n35 degrees, with snow still on the ground. Saturday was a little better, with the sun<br \/>\nfinally making an appearance. Despite the not so perfect weather the Mustangs<br \/>\nmanaged to qualify three individuals and 2 relays for nationals.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5292\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5292\" style=\"width: 200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/files\/2013\/04\/IMG_9343.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-5292\" alt=\"taylor chapman in the Steeplechase\" src=\"http:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/files\/2013\/04\/IMG_9343-200x300.jpg\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/files\/2013\/04\/IMG_9343-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/files\/2013\/04\/IMG_9343-266x400.jpg 266w, https:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/files\/2013\/04\/IMG_9343-532x800.jpg 532w, https:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/files\/2013\/04\/IMG_9343.jpg 911w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5292\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">taylor chapman in the Steeplechase<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Neeia Cooperwood, who was recently named the Hauff Mid-America Sports\/<br \/>\nGPAC Women\u2019s Track Athlete of the Week, was named the Sioux City Relays MVP in<br \/>\nthe women\u2019s collegiate division. She also punched her ticket to nationals with a<br \/>\njump of 19-3\/4 in the long jump. She won the 400-meter run on Friday with a time<br \/>\nof 59.56 and the 100-meter dash Saturday with a time of 12.29 seconds.<br \/>\nCooperwood was also part of the sprint medley relay that finished second with a<br \/>\ntime of 4:19.49.<br \/>\nOn the men\u2019s side Monte Larson brought home the MVP award. Larson was<br \/>\nthe anchor leg in the sprint medley, 1600-meter relay, and the 3200-meter relay. All<br \/>\nthree relays finished first. Individually Larson won the 800-meter run on Friday<br \/>\nand finished second in the 400-meter hurdles on Saturday with a time of 52.53.<br \/>\nLarson automatically qualified in both individual events.<br \/>\nGarret Ehlers was the other individual qualifier for the Mustangs in the 3000-<br \/>\nmeter steeplechase. Finishing second in the Sioux City Relays with a time of 9:16.79,<br \/>\nhe is currently ranked first in the nation.<br \/>\nBoth men and women\u2019s 4&#215;800 teams (indoor national champions) qualified<br \/>\nfor outdoor nationals on Saturday as well. The women provisionally qualified with<br \/>\na first place finish time of 9:30.62. The relay was made up of Jennifer Petsche,<br \/>\nShelby Hall, McKenzie Reece, and Breanna Mathes.
