{"id":4510,"date":"2012-11-26T18:53:02","date_gmt":"2012-11-26T23:53:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/?p=4510"},"modified":"2012-11-26T18:53:23","modified_gmt":"2012-11-26T23:53:23","slug":"christmas-at-morningside-is-near","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/archives\/4510","title":{"rendered":"Christmas at Morningside is near"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>by Paige Potter&#8211;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The 17<sup>th<\/sup> annual Christmas at Morningside is this Friday, November 30<span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size: 11px\">,<\/span>\u00a0at 7:30 p.m. in Eppley Auditorium.<\/p>\n<p>Students involved in the performance began practicing for the concert on Sunday, November 25.\u00a0 The rest of the practices for the week are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday night.<\/p>\n<p>Groups participating in this event are the college choir, Bel Canto (women\u2019s choir), Singing Men (men\u2019s choir), the Master Choral \u00a0(group of singers from the Sioux City area), and the Morningside band.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBreak Forth O Heavenly Light\u201d is the theme of this year\u2019s concert, which is also a song the ensemble choir is singing.\u00a0 This song was composed for Morningside College to perform at Christmas at Morningside and has never been performed by a choir before. The composer will be in attendance Friday night.<\/p>\n<p>The choir will perform five mass choir pieces and the band will join the choir for some songs as well.<\/p>\n<p>Christmas at Morningside is the big kick off for the Christmas season in Sioux City.
