He started the night there, but ended up journeying through Sioux City.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had to move twice,\u201d Catus said with a groan. \u201cThe first place? No one was even there. The second place? Some people, but no connection.\u201d The third place was a charm, however.<\/p>\n<p>The Woodbury County Courthouse crew spent two hours trying to fix their equipment before calling in from cell phones and carrying on their interviews that way.<\/p>\n<p>Another reporter got a flat tire while traveling from Ames.<\/p>\n<p>Nick Brincks was the on-air host, left to fill the airtime when remote locations had technical difficulties.<\/p>\n<p>Brincks didn\u2019t seem too stressed or dismayed about having to fill in time while the remote locations got their equipment up and running.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere were times when I thought, \u2018where do I go now?\u2019 But I more or less just presented questions for the commentators to answer,\u201d Brincks said nonchalantly.<\/p>\n<p>Alongside Brincks as on-air commentators were political science professors Patrick McKinlay and Kitty Green.<\/p>\n<p>All in all, the coverage was a success, and whether students\u2019 preferred candidates won or not, it can be agreed that Election Night was another great experience for everyone involved in Morningside\u2019s production and coverage crew.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">&#8212;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Claire DeRoin&#8211; Whether it was problems with the remote locations crews\u2019 equipment, flat tires, or any other number of mishaps, Murphy\u2019s Law seemed to be in effect Tuesday night as Morningside mass communications and political science majors got firsthand experience covering Election Night.
