They shamelessly eat ice cream cones off the ground. They disturb classes by sitting in front of windows and peering in with disregard for education. They stare intensely at you when you walk past them.\u00a0 Now they are on t-shirts.<br \/>\nWho are \u201cthey?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Morningside squirrels.<\/p>\n<p>OKD (Omicron Delta Kappa), Morningside\u2019s honors society, held the squirrel shirt fundraiser in September. Over 150 students and faculty ordered shirts.<\/p>\n<p>A Facebook group served as the order form. \u201cI originally added all of my Morningside Facebook friends, and it was up to them to invite their Facebook friends, and so on,\u201d said Marissa Gregg, who is a member of the ODK fundraising committee.<\/p>\n<p>So why are the squirrels starring on the shirts?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStudents here love Morningside\u2019s friendly squirrels,\u201d said Gregg. \u201cI had seen an image on the internet of a squirrel unzipping its fur to reveal a Superman \u2018S,\u2019 so I wanted to do the same thing with the Morningside \u2018M.\u2019\u201d Gregg\u2019s sister, a graphic designer based out of Sioux Falls, designed the shirts. Four colors were available.<\/p>\n<p>Gregg expects to see the Morningside squirrel shirts on campus within a month.<\/p>\n<p>Money raised from squirrel shirt sales will go towards various ODK events, including Into the Streets, Dean\u2019s List receptions, Honors Convocation, and the Faculty Appreciation Dinner.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">&#8212;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>by Claire DeRoin&#8211; They are everywhere on campus.
