Theater professor Randy Peters recently started Morningside College\u2019s very own Glee club. \u201cThe idea came from a few students who expressed an interest in other singing opportunities on campus other than choir,\u201d says Peters.<\/p>\n<p>After talking with the President and Dean and getting the idea approved, a group of 20 volunteer students came together and Glee Club was official.<\/p>\n<p>The club meets once a week to sing and dance with the help of their choreographer, Donny Short, and their pianist, Claire DeRoin. Right now the group is working on musical theater songs. \u201cWe\u2019re doing songs from the musicals <em>Phantom of the Opera<\/em>, <em>Hairspray<\/em>, and <em>Les Miserables<\/em>\u201d, explained Peters.<\/p>\n<p>Glee Club will perform April 28 in Klinger-Neal Theater along with the Morningside College dance classes. Peters also said some students will even be performing solos.<\/p>\n<p>What does the future of Glee Club have in store? \u201cNext year I would like to try some contemporary and rock songs, which is more like the television show <em>Glee,<\/em>\u201d Peters informed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Tasha Drey ~ The hit Fox television show Glee has made an impact on Morningside.
