His discussion on \u201cThe Strategic Challenges Facing America\u201d focused on relationships between the U.S. and Middle East.<\/p>\n<p>General McChrystal began his lecture by sharing an anecdote with the crowd about two rival villages in Nuristan. His story concluding with a reminder that, \u201cWhat happens in Dublin matters in Detroit. What happens in North Korea matters in North Dakota\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During the hour-long conversation General McChrystal also examined Afghanistan\u2019s historical timeline concluding that, \u201cIt\u2019s important to understand what they\u2019ve been through to understand why they react as they do.\u201d \u00a0Adding later that, \u201c \u2026the Taliban isn\u2019t the problem, the Taliban is the symptom of the problem. \u201c<\/p>\n<p>Later he shared his thoughts on leadership, geopolitics, and the current state of global affairs, utilizing powerful photographs throughout the lecture. He also answered numerous audience questions.<\/p>\n<p>Senior Corrine Brown inquired about social media and the misconceptions and relationship problems they pose. General McChrystal\u2019s lighthearted response, \u201c\u2026I looked at the Wikipedia page for Sioux City and it gives you credit for being the fourteenth drunkest city in the country.
