Start into the spring season by working on your very own research project. How?! At the annual Palmer Student Research Symposium. When?! On April 13.<\/p>\n<p>The Symposium is held every year in April and allows students from every area of study to present their\u00a0research through oral, poster and\u00a0panel presentations. Presentations will begin at 8:00 a.m. and last until around 4:00 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Keynote speaker this year is Megan Cifarelli from Manhattanville College.\u00a0 She is an art historian and archaeologist.\u00a0 Her talk will be titled &#8220;Taking it with you:\u00a0 Death and Personal Adornment at Hasanlu, Iran.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Cifarelli\u2019s presentation will be the midpoint of the day and most likely take place around the lunch hours. All other presentations are TBA and open to all.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, presentation subjects included everything from microbiology, psychological research, to business projects. So far, there are less than 20 applications, so quite a few slots are still available.<\/p>\n<p>And here\u2019s why you should partake at this Research Symposium: share research with others and earn respect; get ideas for future and very own research; build up your resume and get ready for grad-school applications; be a part of one of the premier campus events.<\/p>\n<p>If you think this is for you, then here\u2019s what you need to submit:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Research &#8211; Your research can be new and original or it can be a review of others\u2019 research<\/li>\n<li>Title &#8211; All research is required to have a title in order to be included in the symposium<\/li>\n<li>Abstract &#8211; A 50 word or less summary of what your research is over is required<\/li>\n<li>Advisor &#8211; You have to have a faculty sponsor who has either assisted you with your research or will assist you in\u00a0preparing for the symposium<\/li>\n<li>Type of Presentation &#8211; Decide what the best way to present your information whether it is through an oral, poster, or\u00a0panel presentation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can find the submission form, requirements, and assistance by clicking on the Palmer Symposium 2011 link on the Morningside College Portal (<em>my.morningside.edu<\/em>).\u00a0The deadline for all submissions is March 23<sup>rd<\/sup>, 2011 before midnight.<\/p>\n<p>For any other question you might have please contact Samantha McCarville (<em><a href=\"mailto:sjm005@morningside.edu\">sjm005@morningside.edu<\/a><\/em>) or Kelsey Kallhoff (<em><a href=\"mailto:kjk005@morningside.edu\">kjk005@morningside.edu<\/a><\/em>).
