By Diego Ocando – The Morningside men\u2019s soccer team continues its GPAC journey sitting in fifth place in the conference standings with a 2-2-1 record (4-6-1 overall). After a scoreless draw against Dordt this past Wednesday, the Mustangs remain determined to finish strong as they enter the second half of the regular season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Morningside will hit the road for two key matchups \u2014 first against Mount Marty on Sunday, October 12, in Yankton, South Dakota, followed by a trip to Orange City to face conference leader Northwestern on Wednesday, October 15. Northwestern currently sits at the top of the table with a perfect 5\u20130 conference record, setting up what could be one of Morningside\u2019s toughest tests yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So far this season, the Mustangs have shown plenty of fight and moments of real quality on the field. Their 3\u20131 win over Concordia and 2\u20130 victory against Hastings showed what this team can do when everything clicks. A few tight games haven\u2019t gone their way, but the group keeps building rhythm and chemistry with every match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Offensively, Jordan Bickel leads the team with five goals, while Tassilo Koerner follows closely with four. Gustavo Santos has been a key playmaker, registering four assists and creating opportunities for the Mustangs\u2019 attacking front.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite some ups and downs, the team\u2019s confidence remains strong. Players and coaches have emphasized staying focused and finishing games stronger, something that could make the difference as they push for a top-four GPAC finish and a spot in the postseason tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With five games left in the regular season and one non-conference game, the Mustangs are far from done. Their next two matches on the road will test their resilience and could determine whether this squad can turn solid performances into results down the stretch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
