by Diego Teixeira Setton–<\/strong>A Solar Eclipse will be visible on campus Monday, April 8, the first to be seen in Iowa since 2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The eclipse will start at 12:42pm, lasting until 3:09pm. In Sioux City, its peak is going to be at 1:55pm, when 75% of the sun will be covered by the moon. In other regions of the country it will be a full total eclipse. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A solar eclipse happens when the moon gets between the earth and the sun, blocking it for a brief period. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It might be a good opportunity to gather around with friends and look at the event, which doesn\u2019t happen that often. But if you\u2019re planning to watch it, be sure to take the necessary steps of ensuring safety, as looking directly at the eclipse can severely damage your eyes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
