by Chaise Pfanstiel–<\/strong>Lauren Hedlund, a Morningside senior, presented her solo art show called \u201cArt as an Educator.\u201d Her solo show involved a reception on Monday, December 4, and continued through the week, ending Friday December 8. Students, faculty, and the public were all invited to see and purchase Hedlund\u2019s artwork.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hedlund\u2019s art show showcases artwork she created in preparation for becoming an art educator. The collection includes ceramics, paintings, graphic design, drawings, and a large variety of media she explored during her time at Morningside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMy favorite piece is probably the freckled girl. It was one of my first successful drawings, and I love the freckles,\u201d Hedlund said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lauren became serious about her art back in high school when she was accidentally put into an art class but ended up falling in love.  \u201cI didn\u2019t know I had any sort of talent for art, or anything related, before this class,\u201d Hedlund said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through the ups and downs of the start of her new journey, Hedlund had support those around her to keep betting on herself. \u201cMy biggest inspiration was my high school art teacher. Not only was she a great art teacher, but she supported me in all aspects of my life.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hedlund plans to teach art in high school and become a coach. She is excited to be surrounded by students and athletes that love art. She is unsure where she will continue her artistic journey but knows she will make it happen.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the solo show came to its close, Hedlund said she was proud of how everything turned out after all the hard work she put into it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hedlund will graduate at the end of 2024 with high hopes for her future and career in art. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
