Whether you have a test, paper, presentation, or all the above; don’t sweat it. Our very own Morningside College students have some studying tips that you may find helpful for you too.

Nursing student Caitlin Charity says, “I use a study method called the pomodoro method. I have 3 cycles, 20 minutes of studying, with a 5 minute break, 20 minutes of studying with a 5 minute break, 20 minutes of studying with a 15-30 minute break depending on what you want, I always do 30, then I just repeat the cycle.” This can be a very effective way of studying especially if you aren’t a fan of studying for hours at a time.

Business Administration and Counseling Psychology student Tyson King says, “When it comes to studying I live by using repetition and consistency. Avoid cramming studying in 2 days before your final and instead begin studying at least 3-4 days in advance. I also would avoid staying up late to study, because it doesn’t really benefit you in any way. And lastly, it helps me if I color code everything I take notes of when studying.”

English and Political Science student Camrie Miranda says, “Some things I find helpful for me are using notecards, study groups, and practicing memorization.”

And last but not least History and Legal Studies student Jacob Murphy says, “Make sure you relax and get sleep, these are both equally just as important as studying. If you get all worked up and pull all nighters your grades will suffer”

At the end of the day finals are always going to be stressful no matter what. You just have to allow yourself the time to study or give yourself more than enough time to write that paper and do whatever works for you. DO NOT procrastinate.

Jadyn Steffen- As our school year is finally boiling down to the last couple of days, we can all feel the stress of finals settling in.
