{"id":14345,"date":"2022-03-02T16:06:13","date_gmt":"2022-03-02T22:06:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/?p=14345"},"modified":"2022-03-02T16:06:14","modified_gmt":"2022-03-02T22:06:14","slug":"spring-break-arrives","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/archives\/14345","title":{"rendered":"Spring break arrives!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>by Caleb Lubbers&#8211;<\/strong>Nearing the halfway point of the semester, students are feeling the need for some time off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year, spring break begins after the last class ends Friday, March 4, and classes will resume on March 14, giving students an entire week off from schoolwork<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jacob Martin, a freshman, plans to head down to Stella, Missouri, to go fishing for trout and explore some caves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFishing is such a relaxing activity, and I\u2019m glad I get to go somewhere warm and enjoy the activity I love, too,\u201d Martin said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Going even further south than Missouri, Logan Feige, a sophomore, is heading to the Dominican Republic for a mission trip with the Morningside football team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is a really cool opportunity that I get to be a part of. It\u2019s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to do something special. I get to be a part of something bigger than myself,\u201d said Feige.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Others didn\u2019t make any big travel plans and instead are heading back home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>John Groetken, a freshman, is going back to his hometown of Moville, Iowa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThankfully, I\u2019m going to enjoy my week off at home and hang out with friends and family,\u201d Groetken said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some students aren\u2019t lucky enough to get any time off during spring break. Kelsey Toomey, a senior, is currently student teaching at Sergeant Bluff-Luton Middle School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAlthough all of my friends get to go home, I\u2019m excited to be able to continue positively affecting the lives of my students,\u201d said Toomey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Faith Laskie, a junior, is staying on campus to complete her education practicum, which are observations in the school setting that education majors have to complete. Laskie is also an RA in the Plex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Laskie gave a piece of advice for people who are able to enjoy their spring break doing what they want: don\u2019t take it for granted.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>by Caleb Lubbers&#8211;Nearing the halfway point of the semester, students are feeling the need for some time off.
