{"id":14335,"date":"2022-03-02T15:02:55","date_gmt":"2022-03-02T21:02:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/?p=14335"},"modified":"2022-03-02T15:55:12","modified_gmt":"2022-03-02T21:55:12","slug":"stepping-outside-on-a-fine-february-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/archives\/14335","title":{"rendered":"Stepping outside on a fine February day"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>by Caleb Lubbers&#8211;<\/strong>In the days before spring break, students have taken advantage of the exceptionally warm weather not usually seen in February by spending time outdoors.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Weather Channel, the <strong>average<\/strong> high temperature in Sioux City on the last day of February is 39 degrees Fahrenheit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year, the temperature reached 67 degrees Fahrenheit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not wanting to waste this unusual opportunity, many students spent time outside soaking up the sunshine.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Christian Leonard, a sophomore, spent a few hours working on his homework in a lawn chair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBeing able to go outside and study on a warm, sunny day is honestly just refreshing after the past few weeks,\u201d said Leonard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Others, such as Augusta-Lynn Newman, just spent time walking around and enjoying the weather.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI got to wear shorts and a t-shirt, which is so much better than wearing a coat and pants like I did last week,\u201d Newman said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The warm weather also helped make the JV baseball doubleheader much more bearable to be at than most February baseball games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The team won the first game but dropped the second.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Braxton Hinders, a senior pitcher, said, \u201cIt was weird feeling warm while playing baseball in February. Even though I\u2019m not used to it, I definitely loved it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chandler Todd, a sophomore, attended the game and cheered on his friends on the team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt was beautiful outside, and I\u2019m so glad I got to watch our team play,\u201d Todd said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Garrett Anderson, a junior who also attended the games, said, \u201cIt was great to get out and support the team.
