{"id":12938,"date":"2021-03-03T20:35:19","date_gmt":"2021-03-04T02:35:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/?p=12938"},"modified":"2021-03-03T20:35:20","modified_gmt":"2021-03-04T02:35:20","slug":"full-capacity-coffeehouse","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/archives\/12938","title":{"rendered":"Full Capacity Coffeehouse"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>by Morgan Roberts-<\/strong>Businesses have shifted back to full capacity seating post proclamation made by Governor Kim Reynolds.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There has been controversy following the lifted ban, but looking from the perspective of a college student the lift is nothing short of a miracle.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students of Morningside have the luxury of in-person classes and access to study centers around campus, but even then, there needs to be a change of scenery. Coffeehouses are the main alternative locations for students to go for study sessions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Places like cafes are go to for students from nursing students with daunting study hours to business majors working on projects to present.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Senior business major Payton Boer said, \u201cWith my capstone classes and extra work needed for my minors, I have multiple papers I\u2019m writing. I can\u2019t just sit in my room and do that. It\u2019s the change of scenery that coffee shops give me so I feel fresh and ready to focus on my work.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most of the time, students aren\u2019t going to coffee shops for a latte. They go for a place to do their homework with coffee being that added bonus.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Erin Thomas, a professor of American University wrote an article saying, \u201cResearch shows that coffee shop ambiance increases creativity, alertness, and ability to learn.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Junior education student, Jenna Dirkx said, \u201cI\u2019m not a big coffee drinker. I like to go to cafes with my friends so we can enjoy each other\u2019s company, while simultaneously doing our work in a cute looking place. Going to the library is nice and all, but it just doesn\u2019t have that vibe a cute coffee shop brings.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The lifted ban gives college students that opportunity to study in a more aesthetic atmosphere that coffee shops in the area bring.
