Additionally, she has helped Pastor Andy Nelson and Professor Anni Moore create and facilitate \u201cDeath Over Dinner\u201d events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe stumbled across the book&nbsp;<em>Let&#8217;s Talk About Death Over Dinner&nbsp;<\/em>and thought it would be a good idea to bring it to campus,\u201d Schimpf said about her and Nelson. \u201cMortality is a weird thing and it\u2019s interesting.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Three dinners have already been held on campus, with the latest one occurring in early March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI hope there is more awareness of your own mortality,\u201d Schimpf said. \u201cDeath is a thing that happens to everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aside from \u201cDeath Over Dinner\u201d events, Schimpf is a large part of organizing other on-campus activities.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cKayla participates in a lot of bake sales for natural disasters through the Pre-professional Health Club,\u201d said Schimpf&#8217;s roommate, Kit Stallmann.  Stallmann continued by saying that her engagement in these activities shows how much she cares about her peers. \u201cShe is always wanting to help anyone who is hurting.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Schimpf finished saying, \u201cI think [getting involved] has made me more confident.&nbsp;I used to be really shy and I didn\u2019t like talking to people. I am now more confident while speaking in groups.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Student of the Month is awarded to a Morningside student who shows dedication to the college through their involvement both on campus and off.
